What are the basic criteria for obtaining a student visa?
The student intends to study a course that is registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS).
The student has a relevant electronic Confirmation-of-Enrolment (CoE) for the course.
The student must have the genuine and appropriate financial capacity to study and stay temporarily in Australia.
The student must demonstrate that they have adequate health insurance (Overseas Student Health Cover), no debts to the Australian government and are of "good character".
If the student is under 18 years of age, you need to have welfare arrangements in place while you are in Australia.
The student must satisfy the Department of Immigration and Border Protection that you have a genuine intention to stay in Australia temporarily based on Genuine Temporary Entrant Requirements.
